Former NFL Lineman Tony Mandarich on MuscleSport Radio 5/5

On Tuesday May 5 at 1:00 PM Eastern time, MuscleSport Radio will feature former NFL offensive lineman Tony Mandarich, who will join us and speak about his football career and his new book, “My Dirty Little Secrets – Steroids, Alcohol & God.”

Mandarich was the number two overall selection by te Green Bay Packers in the 1989 NFL Draft and was projected to be the best offensive line prospect of all time. His career was derailed but he later proved everyone wrong by coming back and be a very effective player for the Indianapolis Colts for three seasons before retiring in 1998.

AT 6’6″ and 315 pounds, Mandarich possessed quite the physique and had aspirations of being Mr. Universe at one time in his life. His calorie consumption surpassed 15,000 in a single day spread out over seven meals. He was so strong at the ine of scrimmage that his college coaches at Michigan State kept created special stat categories for him, such as “pancakes,” “off the film” and “no mas.” If you’re not up on the gridiron vocabulary, a ‘pancake’ is when an offensive lineman decks his defensive counterpart; ‘off the film’ is when your opponent is driven back so far he is out of the camera shot; and ‘no mas,’ well…do you remember when Roberto Duran quit against Sugar Ray Leonard? Same idea.

MuscleSport Radio can be heard live every Tuesday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Eastern time on www.blogtalkradio.com and all episodes are archived on Blog Talk Radio, MuscleSport Mag and iTunes.
