Iris Kyle To Miss 2012 Ms. International/Arnold Classic Due To Left Knee Injury

Iris Kyle, who has won the Ms. International six times in the last eight years and the last three, will have to bow out of the prestigious women’s bodybuilding contest next month due to a left knee injury, MuscleSport Magazine staff writer Heather Leff reports.

Enduring a challenging yet successful 2011, Kyle won both the Ms. International and Ms. Olympia fighting illness. She is a warrior and true professional so this injury must be serious enough that she was unable to work through it and waited until less than two weeks before the show until making a decision. She did in fact notify the IFBB two weeks prior to this announcement informing them that she may in fact have to remove herself from the competition if her knee did not allow for her to prepare properly.

Kyle further stated that she was disappointed and sad and taking it one day at a time. If the recovery goes well, Kyle should be able to defend her Olympia crown in September. She posted the below on her Facebook page:

I am so sad having to announce, that due to a leg injury I will not compete in the 2012 Ms. International. Hoping to recover soon I look forward to see you at the Ms. Olympia 2012. Thank you for being supportive. Loye you all!

As far as the upcoming Ms. International goes, this opens the door for Yaxeni-Oriquen Garcia to grab her fifth championship in Columbus, Ohio at the Arnold Classic. The veteran has been nipping at Kyle’s heels and has become the instant favorite now. Keep an eye on Debi Laszewski and Alina Popa, as well.
