Victor Martinez Competing in 2012 Mr. Olympia

Seven months away from not only the sport, but society as well, cannot keep Victor Martinez from gracing bodybuilding’s biggest stage. ‘The Dominican Dominator’ has announced that he has in fact sent in his contract to compete in the 2012 Mr. Olympia and expects to be ready to do more than just show up in the desert.

The news was broken by Muscular Development’s Ron Harris in an exclusive interview with Martinez, who was released on April 27 from federal jail due to immigration issues.

At the time of his release, Martinez was visibly thinner than we have ever seen him and weighed only 220 pounds. Having no access to weights, supplements or the proper foods will do that to even the best of them. But he has wasted no time in getting back to work and Martinez has added 42 quality pounds onto his physique since then.

Forever a realist, Martinez further informed Harris that he cannot make any predictions on how his size or conditioning will be come the end of September, but he is going to train and diet hard for the show and give it his best shot. He also expects to finish at least as high as he did last year, which was fourth.

Martinez further stated that he also intends to defend his Arnold Classic Europe title in Spain, but does not expect to compete at the Sheru Classic this year.
