Ezekiel Bread French Toast with Berry Reduction
- Updated: September 17, 2012
By Cara Trentadue –
Ezekiel Bread is a flourless bread made from sprouted grains and legumes. Sprouted grains simply mean soaked until a sprout forms. ( remember the milk carton plants we brought home as children using a bean)
Sprouted grain bread such as Ezekiel who was said to live on that alone for days on end in the desert are some of the most nutritious you can eat. If you haven’t tried a slice of flourless sprouted grain bread, let me suggest you make it part of your daily routine.
Flourless bread is made with grains and legumes that are soaked and sprouted before grinding less aggressively into flour. Sprouted grains have increased vitamin and nutrient content because the seed is first sprouted, making it alive and loaded with enzymes, not to mention a complete protein.
Moms get your kids eating this instead of the crap in the frozen food section. Make a whole loaf and freeze it so its ready in the morning.
Egg Mixture
6 Large Eggs Beaten
½ Cup Almond Milk
½ Teaspoon Vanilla
Dash Cinnamon (to taste)
1 Loaf Ezekiel Cinnamon Raisin Bread
Prepare as you would french toast OR Bake in 350 degree toaster oven until golden.
Berry Reduction
1 Cup of Berries ( fresh of frozen
Stevia to taste
1 Cup Water
Cook on med heat until thick puree.
Use the berry reduction as you would syrup, which can be enjoyed with greek yogurt.
I cannot stress enough, small changes in your diet such as substituting this recipe for the cereals and premade breakfast foods will make an enormous difference in your children’s’ lives as well as your own. It honestly tastes much better too.
My name is Cara (www.carashealthyliving.com) and I have been studying nutrition and practicing an alternative healthy lifestyle for over 20 years. After learning how the body has the innate ability to heal itself in most cases proving you give it what it needs to do so I wanted to share this knowledge with the world.
I studied Nutrition and Weight Management Counseling at American Fitness Professionals and Associates and I am always pursuing new knowledge about healing the body and prevention of disease. With over 20 years of practice behind me there is no argument that prevention is the easiest way to avoid sicknesses like type 2 diabetes, cancer, and heart disease. I do not advocate “diets” I teach lifestyle change. The children of America in this generation are said to be the only generation whose parents will outlive them. Diet and lifestyle play a major role in this trend. We need to turn it around.
