Common Misunderstandings in Dieting
- Updated: February 16, 2016
Let’s talk about the lifestyle of dieting, common misunderstandings, and ways to fix your metabolism. There are hundreds of diets available and I’m sure you’ve tried all of them! My favorite ones make it possible to eat the foods you like in moderation. I’ve experimented with many pre-contest meal plans for competitive bodybuilding, physique and figure. It taught me how to achieve the look that was necessary for all divisions. One of the best things I learned from competing is how to drop body fat quickly.
Shakeology is the healthiest meal of each day and it’s a liquid replacement. I’ve been drinking it right after my workouts since 2009 when only one flavor existed! Now there are vegan choices and many other delicious options. The mild cleansing ingredients keep my metabolism functioning at its highest level! This shake is premium nutrition for your body. I always have a sexy six-pack that stays ripped in my off-season and for competitions because Shakeology eliminates toxic waste more efficiently. My clients use it to help lose stubborn fat surrounding their midsection. You can find SHAKEOLOGY on my website or go to: http://shakeology.com/andreasathletes
I consistently weigh and measure all foods during my off-season and especially when I’m prepping for a show. If there’s a photoshoot, I try to start dieting at least three weeks in advance; depending on how much notice is available. The only thing that ever changes is my carbohydrate intake. A “low carb” diet promotes fat loss while eating too many carbohydrates can cause weight gain. You almost have to be a mathematician by calculating macros in your diet. The macronutrients are proteins, carbohydrates, and fats. The protein and carbohydrates have four calories per gram while fats have nine. Pay attention to the serving size on food packaging. It provides the amount of grams and ounces in each serving.
Another common misunderstanding is the time to eat. My biggest pet peeve is when sedentary clients tell me they’re eating every three hours to keep their metabolism burning when in reality, they are consuming way more calories than they are expending. Eat when you FEEL HUNGRY! Listen to your body! Pay attention to hunger pains! The majority of time you THINK you’re starving, the body is really just thirsty ands needs more water. Dehydration is also the leading cause of headaches! The new standard rule for water consumption is half your bodyweight in ounces; however, athletes need more than that requirement.
