From the Olympia Stage to the Silver Screen

It’s not too late to catch the third installment of MuscleSport Radio, the weekly Internet podcast bringing you the best of bodybuilding, pro sports and anabolic steroids. This week’s special guest was none other than Gunter Schlierkamp, who speaks frankly about some of the frustrations he faced in bodybuilding and why he has turned to acting the past two years and not the Olympia stage. Gunter also comments on the passing of the great Ben Weider and what the entire Weider family has meant to his career.
The World Series and the bad weather effecting it is also discussed on this show, as well as the seven NFL players testing positive for the diuretic Bumetanide.
All past broadcasts are archived and can be heard via MuscleSport Mag, Blog Talk Radio (www.blogtalkradio.com) and iTunes.
Please be advised that we have already scheduled our special guest for the Tuesday, November 18 show - legendary bodybuilder Boyer Coe.
Be sure to listen live every Tuesday afternoon from 3 to 4 pm (Eastern time). Our call-in number is (347) 884-8157.

Interview of Guest Star Emy Silvagni

Ready for listening at your convenience, the second episode of ‘MuscleSport Radio’ is now available. You can access it via the player right here on our home page, through the Blog Talk Radio website (www.blogtalkradio.com)or iTunes.
The highlight of the show was our interview with Emy Silvagni, who let us in on some of her great dishes as a certified fitness chef, mainly her turkey oatmeal meatloaf! Her list of women’s bodybuilding championships and event coordination at the Mr. & Mrs. Jones Beach USA competition was also discussed, as was the sad passing of Ben Weider.
On the sports side of the show, the fantastic ALCS between Tampa Bay and Boston was reviewed, as well as a World Series preview and NFL recap.
We had some technical difficulties with our switchboard during the second half of the show and for that we sincerely apologize. A few callers were unable to connect to the show, so we hope that they call us back next week.
On our next show, IFBB pro bodybuilder Gunter Schlierkamp will be our special guest. Be sure to listen live on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at 3 pm (Eastern time).

Voting Poll to be Open Soon for Next Winner

The monthly 500 Word Article Submission Contest on the Muscular Development website forums has already begun posting some of the entries, with the winner having his/her article published in the print magazine. Voting will begin shortly and go until November 12. Is this a shameless ploy to get some votes for my entry, “Over Time…” by MuscleSport Mag? You bet, it is! To get your by-line in MD should not be taken lightly, and I’m not doing so. If you have never been on the boards, then you’re doing yourself a disservice. MD is the top publication out there and their website is loaded with great material. The forums are legendary, especially the ‘No Bull’ section. Sign up, post and don’t forget to vote every month. Over Time…
Oh, there goes that damn alarm clock again. Let me just hit the ‘snooze’ button once or twice then I’ll drag myself out of bed. A quick something to eat and off to the gym. Then it’s another session that I can probably do in my sleep, and the way I feel today I may just be doing that. Have to wake myself up and by the time I finish my warm-ups, the blood has started pumping.
Now I’m beginning to remember why I have been doing this since high school. It’s been over 25 years since then and I’m still moving iron around as if I was getting paid overtime to do it.
And you know what, the reward from doing it all this time isn’t anything you can buy (well, maybe you can in some ways). While all those other lazy SOBs are shoving glazed donuts down their throats, I’m here playing those same songs over my iPod sweating bullets. Blasting my chest, blowing out my biceps, adding another two plates for the next set of squats. Continue Reading »

Bodybuilding’s Newest Player Vegas-Bound

This time next week, the staff of MuscleSport Mag will be settled into The Orleans Hotel and Casino in sunny Las Vegas. Lucky enough to be lodging at the same location as the actual Mr. Olympia contest, we will be hands-on the entire weekend. Nothing will get by our prying eyes and ears without us reporting it and getting the information out to the bodybuilding fans.
From the ‘Meet the Olympians’ on Thursday night; to the Olympia Expo on Friday and Saturday at the Las Vegas Convention Center, the Women’s Fitness, Figure and Ms. Olympia pre-judging and finals; and of course the Men’s Mr. O pre-judging and finals, MSM will be bringing you all the action.
Be sure to check our site regularly the entire weekend for up-to-the-minute photographs of everything happening out west. Will Jay Cutler make it three in a row? Will Dennis Wolf climb the mountain? Is Dexter jackson going to cap off an incredible year with the Sandow? We’ll be there and you will feel like you are with our around-the-clock coverage of the entire Olympia experience.

Your Favorite Online Publication Seen in Robert Kennedy’s Print Edition

MuscleSport Mag is featured in the October 2008 issue of “MuscleMag Interntional.” See our advertisement in an exciting, extra-packed issue with Joel Stubbs as the cover main feature. There’s also “Road Map to Mass” (and “Nutritional Road Map to Mass”), “Peak Performance,” “Creatine Under the Microscope,” and great department pieces such as “Priority on Pecs” (Workout of the Month) and “Rise of the Living Deadlift” (Strongman).
What magazine would be complete without a sexy pictorial? Certainly not this one. The amazing April Ireland is seen from every angle in “Sock it Up.” As if a MSM ad wasn’t enough reason to buy this issue!

An Explanation on Steroid User Interview

We have received a number of emails since publishing ‘Deca Dick’ May or May Not Leave You Hanging a few days ago on MuscleSport Mag. First off, if anyone received the wrong message from it, we would like to apologize. With that said…wake up! The article was obviously written for education and information on a very hot topic, one that will not go away no matter how far some people stick their head in the sand. If anyone thinks that M.T., our interviewee, is unlike many of the people that work out next to us in the various gyms around the world, you are terribly mistaken.
Steroids are not only used by the bodybuilders on stage, the athletes on the field or the movie and rap celebrities on TMZ. No, the average guy or gal out there without much to gain besides what they see in the glass every morning are using performance-enhancing drugs, too.
We are not polarizing this or telling the readers that it is ‘the thing to do,’ but rather merely telling the truth. As we stated in our first article, Welcome to MuscleSport Mag, this is not the place to read about how great a supplement is if it sucks, or that anabolic steroids will kill you by reading the label. No, we’re not pussy-shipped like that. You will hear also not hear what you want to hear, unless that’s the truth. Continue Reading »
