The 2009 DREAM Welterweight Grand Prix Champion has won five fights in a row and nine of his last 10.

Zaromskis is coming off an utter destruction of Myeon Ho Bae, winning by 0:19, first-round KO on Oct 25. The victory earned Zaromskis the 2009 DREAM Welterweight Grand Prix crown. Remarkably, it was the third consecutive time Zaromskis won a fight with a head kick in the opening round. On July 20, 2009, he defeated both Jason High (2:22) and heavily favored Hayoto Sakurai (4:03) with head kicks to win DREAM’s 170-pound tournament.

Zaromskis turned pro on Feb. 4, 2000.

A morning that was overcast during the prejudging ended up in a beautiful sunny day at the beach for the finals at the 2009 Mr. and Mrs. Jones Beach USA contest. For the second consecutive year, Dan Lurie and Steve Michalik brought Muscle Beach to the east coast by promoting an outdoor contest that included men and women’s bodybuilding, bikini, beach body, martial arts exhibitions and even a live salsa band.

At the end of a glorious day, 50-year-old Jim Caruso and 44-year-old Glenda Bozett took home their respective overall titles and beat out people half their age, proving once again that it is merely a number. For Bozett, it was her second consecutive time in the winner’s circle for the Jones Beach show.

Caruso, who went from a competitive bodybuilder in his younger days to “328 pounds of blubber,” as he described it, may have seemed an unlikely winner but proudly took home the hardware. “Even if I win the Mr. Universe contest tomorrow, I will always cherish this win the most,” he said afterwards.

Caruso put himself in the hands of Michalik, who saw that his pupil had what it takes to get back to where he once was. “He stopped feeling sorry for himself, and that was the biggest step,” Michalik said. Caruso drove 140 miles twice a week from his upstate, New York home to train with Michalik on Long Island and the results were obvious.

The 2008 Men’s Bodybuilding Overall winner, Steve Pecora, was a judge and guest poser.
