On February 10th at the “Grand Opening” of the Original SoupMan/Cold Stone Creamery located on 34-20 Broadway in Astoria, Queens, many great things happened within the community. Not only were two people chosen to receive ice cream/soup for life, but Al’s Feed the Hungry Foundation donated a check for $1500.00 to the Garden of Dreams Foundation. Dan Girardi, New York Rangers defenseman, was on hand to accept the donation on behalf of the charity. In addition to accepting the check, Dan also served soup and ice cream to children from the Harlem Dowling School, which is a partner of the Garden of Dreams Foundation.

It was a great time for all in attendance; it is a positive sign to see local businesses and athletes coming together to help the community. So if you are in the Queens area, stop over to The Original SoupMan/Cold Stone Creamery store on 34-20 Broadway in Astoria. You never know who may just stop in.

Frankie “The Sports Guy” Maniscalco has been hosting his show in one capacity or another on WGBB and other outlets since 2007. Frankie prides himself on not only talking with former and current athletes but he also catches the story of people helping in the community. His interviews range from former baseball players like Tommy John to people giving back to help others. Frankie has aired his show on such platforms asyoucastr and MVN. When Frankie is not doing a show on WGBB, you can find him on the internet at Blog Talk Radio Sunday nights from 10:00pm to 11:00pm. He also started writing a blog on his website ( frankiethesportsguy.com ) as well as writing a fantasy article for NY Baseball Digest. Whether on the air or in print, Frankie strives to capture his audience with the best guests and topics relating to sports.
