TIRATRICOL (T3)
Manufacturer: Genesis Meds

Although not technically an ‘anabolic steroid’, Tiratricol (T3) is one of the many forms of thyroid medication used by bodybuilders during the pre-contest phase of their training regime.
A naturally occurring metabolite of the endogenous (produced inside the body) hormone triodothyronine (T3), when used properly this drug has very significant fat burning properties. It is also one of the most effective and safe fat burning drugs available.

Tiratricol has proven to be exceptional for burning off excess body fat without the need to turn to extreme dieting methods – which can lead to long-term metabolic harm.

T3 IN THE BODY

In order to utilize any thyroid medication to its fullest potential we need to first understand the way natural T3 functions in the body.

Thyroid hormones are the metabolic regulators in the body. When the level of T3 is high the metabolism is speeded up. This allows calories to be burned faster and the uptake of nutrients by the body to be increased. Supplemental T3 increases your body’s energy demands and allows you to burn fat at a greatly accelerated rate. However, it should also be noted that when it comes to obtaining fuel for this increase in metabolism your body might begin to turn to muscle tissue for fuel. With this in mind, it is usually recommended that when taking thyroid medication it is best to include an anti-catabolic substance to prevent muscle loss. For competitive bodybuilders this would mean that T3 use be accompanied by the use of non-aromatizing steroids such as stanozolol (Winstrol), Trenbolone and Primobolan. Using T3 along with Clenbuterol is also a popular pre-contest stack since Clenbuterol is reputed to have a muscle sparing effect.

Another popular way of effectively using T3 supplementation is to alternate its use with Clenbuterol. This usually takes the form of a cycle involving three weeks of Clen alternated with three weeks of T3. This form of cycle takes into account the fact that Clen often loses most of its benefits after a short period of time and alternating with T3 will maintain the fat burning process at a steady rate.

WHY TIRATRICOL?

With so many synthetic thyroid preparations on the market you may be asking, “Why choose Tiratricol?”

The answer is that Tiratricol is by far the safest thyroid medication currently available. A relatively mild product, Tiratricol reaches maximum effectiveness at a daily dosage of about 1mg per 50lbs of bodyweight. It exhibits a half- life of approximately 6 hours; therefore daily dosage is best divided evenly throughout the day in order to maintain steady blood levels. In addition to this it is extremely important to point out that administration of Tiratricol will not lead to an uncontrollable increase in metabolic rate like other thyroid hormones. It will only create an increase reflecting the upper range considered normal and acceptable throughout administration. This increase is not only significant but also highly effective without creating the discomfort sometimes experienced when one uses other thyroid medications.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

As is the case with any administration of exogenous (outside the body) thyroid hormone, it is strongly advised not to quit T3 use cold turkey. Daily intake should be reduced gradually in order to allow the body to resume natural hormone production as smoothly and swiftly as possible.

Although recommendations on the length of time you can safely remain on thyroid hormone vary widely (I have seen some reports of ‘safe use’ being 9-10 months a year!). It is usually considered safe to use for 15-20 weeks as long as low doses are utilized. However, an even safer option would be to keep use to 4-6 weeks in order to avoid any negative effects on natural thyroid function.

N.B. Tiratricol is manufactured by Genesis Meds and is currently available on special offer from Maxi Medicine (www.maximedicine.com)

Leigh Penman, in addition to be a staff writer at MuscleSport Mag, has been writing for bodybuilding magazines, websites and nutritional supplement companies since 1985. Whilst residing in the UK, she earned the reputation of being one of the top female writers in bodybuilding-related media. Her credits included being a contributing editor on all the magazines in production as well as filling the shoes of Ladies Editor and Showbiz Editor on two publications (the later being on Arnold’s sanctioned magazine, ‘Bodypower’). During this time she also competed successfully on four occasions (placing in the top four in all contests).

Relocating to New York in the late 1990s she focused her writing attention to crystal healing techniques and metaphysics – however, she still maintained a five day workout schedule during this time and gained her personal training certificate.

Having also studied pharmacology in relation to sports performance, her writing began taking her in that direction until the present day which sees her embarking on a return to the magazine world, as well as extending her web-related work in the bodybuilding and fitness field.

This is part of a continuing series provided exclusively by MuscleSport Mag giving information on a variety of performance-enhancing drugs for educational purposes. While it is apparent that people are going to use these substances regardless of the health and legal risks involved, quality information is necessary and learning as much about them as possible can only assist an adult making a decision either way.

Winstrol is the ‘user friendly’ name given to the anabolic steroid Stanozolol. A derivative of dihydrotestosterone, Winstrol is a commonly used steroid for cutting cycles. Since it is not capable of converting into estrogen, gynecomastia is not a concern – even amongst the most sensitive individuals. It produces a lean, quality look with little or no water retention.
Winstrol is often seen as a less expensive alternative to Anavar since it produces similar gains in strength without significant weight gain.

As with most oral compounds, Winstrol carries the structural c17-AA alteration, which enables it to survive the first pass through the liver. This means that it does place a higher level of stress on the liver than the injectable form (Winstrol Depot) which avoids the first pass altogether. With this in mind, during longer or higher dose cycles, liver values should be monitored by regular blood work. It should also go without saying that if you are stacking Winstrol with other oral steroids then you should make every effort to protect your liver by limiting the cycle length to 6 to 8 weeks. Cholesterol levels should also be monitored and every effort should be made to stick to a diet that does not include cholesterol-elevating foods (e.g. fatty meats, egg yolks, full fat dairy products).

The usual dose for men is 35 – 75mg per day for the tablets and 25 – 50mg/day for the injectable version. Women usually take around 5 to 10mg/day, sometimes going up to 20mg for competitive athletes. The injectable version is not recommended for use by women.

STACKING TIPS:

For bulking purposes you may wish to add a stronger androgen like testosterone, Dianabol or Anadrol.

For cutting phases Winstrol can be combined with trenbolone or Halotestin.
Sensitive individuals would be advised to stick to Primobolan, Deca-Durabolin or Equipoise if they want to enter the stacking arena since they exhibit fewer side effects than standard androgens.

LIVER PROTECTION:

When using oral steroids it is worth considering using some form of over the counter liver protectant e.g. Silymarin (Milk Thistle) or N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine (NAC).

Eight Belles’ Death, Big Brown’s Winstrol Use Polarized What was Always the ‘Norm’

On the heels of the state of New York changing its horse racing steroid policy, the upcoming Breeders’ Cup this weekend will have testing for the banned substances. The ‘Sport of Kings’ has always been accepting of the use of performance-enhancing drugs and the recent windfall attempting to connect misfortune with steroids has all of a sudden changed that method of thinking.

If anyone believes that the death of Eight Belles at the Kentucky Derby and the hoof injuries to Big Brown have anything to do with steroids, then they will probably also believe that Barry Bonds felt he was only using flaxseed oil. Horses do have unfortunate accidents on the track, some resulting in their demise. Those incidents have absolutely nothing to do with steroids. It is simply another excuse to hang something on without finding out the true cause.

Starting January 1, new rules will be in place that will set limits on the amount of steroids that will be permitted, according to a vote passed by the New York State Racing and Wagering Board.

With the upcoming Breeders’ Cup in Santa Anita, trainers will face a one-year suspension from the event if there is a positive test of any amount of steroids or EPO found. There will be a total of five horses chosen for testing after all Breeders’ Cup Challenge races – one at random and the top four finishers.

Just as the ups and, mainly, downs of Wall Street seem to be forever in the news so does the use of anabolic steroids in various sports. This week saw the spotlight turning once again on the world of horse racing. On Tuesday (October 14) the New York Racing and Wagering Board let it be known that it is implementing new rules as regards the administration of anabolic steroids in the world of horse racing.

This is a follow up to the earlier revelation that the recently retired racehorse, Big Brown, was juiced on Winstrol whilst competing in the Kentucky Derby. Even though this was in fact entirely legal in terms of horseracing protocol, board chairman John D. Sabini stated in an article in the ‘Daily News’ that by imposing limits on four steroids currently used in horse racing New York would be leading the pack when it came to preserving integrity within the sport. He also made it clear that the intended message to owners and trainers was, “If you flaunt our steroid rules, you will be held accountable.”

According to the new rules, four steroids will be permitted for use by racehorses, but only one of the four may be found in the horse at any one time (therefore ‘no stacking on the track!’).

The four permitted steroids are: stanozolol (Winstrol), boldenone (Equipoise), nandrolone (Durabolin) and testosterone. The reasoning being that small concentrations of these substances would not be significant enough to affect a horse’s performance.
The rules will go into effect on January 1 2009.

CANSECO IN FERTILITY RAP!

Meanwhile on the human side of the anabolic coin, former slugger Jose Canseco was caught trying to smuggle the female fertility drug Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) across the border from Mexico last week. Canseco, who authored the 2005 book “Juiced” exposing the use of anabolics in baseball, was charged with Introduction into Interstate Commerce of a Misbranded Drug (considered a misdemeanor).

According to the report, Canseco, a female driver and the female driver’s “minor daughter” were stopped by Customs and Border Protection agents entering California at the San Ysirdo checkpoint. An inspection of their vehicle revealed six vials of HCG and 10 syringes in the armrest compartment.

Canseco was detained for nine hours by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and had to consent to a search of his Los Angeles home as a precursor to his release. No drugs were found on inspection and Canseco was released pending a court date on Nov 4.

Canseco claimed that the drug was for personal use due to the fact that previous steroid use has left his testosterone levels extremely low necessitating a hormone therapy plan.
He also said that he was in Mexico seeking “inexpensive dental implant work”..So I guess he was doing a ‘Wal-Mart’ one stop-shopping trip!

Whatever the case, the fact remains that hard-core steroid use does lead to testicular atrophy, low testosterone and sperm counts in male athletes. The drug HCG is frequently used to prevent this. You wanna know a better way of preventing this condition? Stay away from ‘roids altogether!

Anavar is one of those drugs that have attained cult status amongst athletes over the years. It has also become relatively hard to find and also fairly pricey. This puts it high on the ‘purchase it while you can and keep it stashed away’ list for many bodybuilders.

Anavar is also an extremely popular drug amongst female athletes who wish to avoid many of the side effects associated with anabolic steroid use (but more of that later).

Anavars near legendary status is due to the fact that it causes a strong strength gain without increasing water retention. It does this by stimulating the creation of phosphocreatine in the muscle cell without depositing water in either the joints or the muscles. Powerlifters often choose to combine Anavar with Halotestin to foster the strength and aggression required in their sport.

Another notable bonus with Anavar use is that this compound does not aromatize at any level. This provides the athlete with many benefits since it allows for a very hard and ripped appearance to evolve – making it the number one pre-contest drug. Another asset pre-contest is the fact that many users have noticed a distinct suppression of appetite whilst on the drug. Athletes preparing for a contest who are interested in gaining quality muscle would be advised to combine Anavar with steroids such as Winstrol, Parabolan, Primabolan Depot and Testosterone Propionate (check out these products elsewhere on our site). In this respect, a stack of Winstrol 50mg every two days, 50mg Testosterone Propionate every two days, and 25mg Anavar every day has proven to be very effective.

It is important to point out that Anavar is a 17 alpha alkylated oral steroid – an alteration that does put extra stress on the liver. However, despite this fact it is important to point out that Anavar is usually very well tolerated and whilst an elevation in liver enzymes is generally noted during use, actual damage to the liver is not usually a problem. It appears that Anavar is not as extensively metabolized by the liver as other 17 alpha alkylated orals. However this is not a green flag to allow you to take huge amounts of this drug, since side effects are always dose related.

SUGGESTED DOSAGES
Men: 20- 50mg/day
Women: 5- 15mg/day

Tablets are normally taken two to three times daily after a meal to ensure optimum absorption. This prevents the occurrence of gastrointestinal disturbances which some individuals may experience with this drug. The nausea, bloating and diarrhea sometimes encountered with Anavar use is due to its effect on the activity of the gastrointestinal tract. If you suffer these effects you may wish to try administering the drug one to two hours after a meal.

STACKING
Primobolan and Winstrol are often stacked with Anavar in order to achieve a harder, more defined look without water retention. Male athletes may also stack Anavar with strong non-aromatizing compounds like Halotestin, Pro-viron or Trenbolone.
Some athletes also choose to utilize Anavar in traditional bulking cycles, stacking it with Dianabol or Testosterone. The goal here would be a gain of strength to accompany the bulk gains facilitated with D-bol and Test.

ANAVAR FOR WOMEN
Women who wish to avoid the masculinizing effects of many steroids are often very happy with the results obtained on moderate dosages of Anavar. In this case a dose of 5mg day should produce significant growth without side effects. Less cautious females may combine Anavar with Winstrol, Primobolan or Deca Durabolin for faster, more pronounced muscle building effects. This may also increase the likelihood of androgenic build up and – if this is a concern – drugs should be discontinued on the first signs of masculinization (e.g. deepening of voice or increasing hoarseness, accelerated body hair growth -particularly on the face)

It’s been stated before, and if need be, will be again. Steroids are merely ‘part of the game.’ That was shown to ring true once again when Terry Bradshaw admitted in an interview that he and other players on the Pittsburgh Steelers championship teams used steroids.

Bradshaw indicated during an interview with Dan Patrick on ESPN Radio that the drugs were obtained from a doctor’s prescription and were used to “get away the aches and pains” and to “speed up the healing process,” and that they were not taken to get “bigger and stronger and faster.” When referring to the use of steroids, Bradshaw used the term “we.”

During his 14-year playing career, Bradshaw suffered injuries to his neck, wrist and elbow, the latter forcing his retirement. For his careeer, the Hall of Famer threw for nearly 28,000 yards and 212 touchdowns and was the driving force behind the team’s success, which included four Super Bowls. Bradshaw is currently an NFL analyst on FOX.

Steve Courson, a former teammate of Bradshaw’s who died in 2005 in a peculiar tree cutting accident , stated in a Sports Illustrated article that he used Anadrol-50, Dianabol, Winstrol and Deca-Durobolin during his playing career.

Hearings on Capitol Hill Should Hasten Rule Across the Board by 2009

By next year, horse racing will become just another sport with a ban on anabolic steroids. During the Congressional hearings on Thursday, a common theme was that everyone was in agreement that the ban should take place.

According to Jockey Club President Alan Marzelli, the organization’s safety panel called for the ban on all steroids, and they are confident that 2008 will be the last year to allow the use of such drugs.

Jack Van Berg, a Hall of Fame trainer, testified that thoroughbred racing has become “chemical warfare.”

“The present rules permitting the use of steroids and other drugs have compromised the integrity of horse racing and has been a major factor in attendance and for interest falling to an all-time low,” said Van Berg.

Taking nothing away from a man with his credentials, it is hard to believe that fans of the sport, and mainly gamblers, would not want to attend because one or more of the horses are juiced up. Quite the contrary, that would probably make the interest wider, making someone think that their horse that ‘had their Wheaties’ will be a sure thing.

Van Berg had an empty chair to his left due to the no-show by Big Brown’s trainer, Rick Dutrow, Jr., who claimed that he was too ill to travel due to a virus. But he did the next best thing by preparing a written statement that, if written by anyone other than the buffoon himself, would have bordered on the unbelievable.

In this account of the asinine, Dutrow claims that Winstrol only enhances a horse’s appetite and coat, not their performance. He then absolves himself of any guilt that his administering of the drugs to his horses was only the result of a “recommendation of one of our vets.” And a trainer would have nothing to do with giving a nag something that will boost his time, right, Rick? But, alas, Dutrow makes it all better by saying he’ll stop if steroids are banned. We’ll all sleep better tonight knowing that.

The star witness expected to headline Congress’ latest inquisition into drugs and sports will be a no-show. Rick Dutrow, Jr., the trainer of almost-Triple Crown winner Big Brown, had to pass up an opportunity to publicize himself again due to a virus.

The Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection will go on in their hearings on horse racing and what can be done to improve the ‘sport of kings.’ Dutrow, who can be kindly described as the court jester, would have been asked a lot of questions, according to Rep. Ed Whitfield of Kentucky. Steroid use is just one of the many topics being investigated by the committee, and Dutrow’s comments concerning the use of winstrol would have surely come up.

According to a survey conducted by the Associated Press, there have been 5,000 horse deaths in the past five and a half years, with Eight Belles being the latest immediately following the Kentucky Derby.

No doubt that the economic aspect of horse racing was a driving force behind these hearings. Every bet placed legally at the track or at OTB has a percentage that goes to the government. They are merely protecting their investment. Regulations differ from state to state, and the result of the hearings will hopefully mean that there will be one governing body to make the major decisions, such as a commissioner in place like in many of the major team sports.

But all of this will have to take place without the input of the most annoying man this side of Simon Cowell. Get well soon, Ricky. The hearings won’t be the same without you and your narcissistic ways.

It appears as if Big Brown has one more race in him before being put out to stud. On Tuesday, Rick Dutrow, Jr., the colt’s trainer, said that the horse will be injected with Winstrol over the weekend. If he is healthy, Big Brown will run on either August 3 (the Haskell at Monmouth) or August 23 (the Travers at Saratoga). Now all we have to wait for is for Dutrow to try to take this statement back (as he did after the Preakness) and for the odds makers to figure on a strong bounce back run for the three year-old after receiving some gear.

Dutrow will have a busy week with an invitation from Congress for next Thursday. “Breeding, Drugs, and Breakdowns: The State of Thoroughbred Horseracing and the Welfare of the Thoroughbred Racehorse” is the latest interference on the sports world by members of the United States government. Expect him to make a horse’s ass out of himself, similar to Roger Clemens, Mark McGwire, Raphael Palmiero and Sammy Sosa have in the past.

The hearings, which will be held by the House Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection, were called for following the tragic death of Eight Belles at the Kentucky Derby.

Since Big Brown failed to win the Triple Crown at Belmont, Dutrow has been looking to place the blame on everything from the jockey (Kent Desormeaux) to the weather and track surface instead of taking any responsibility. With his fifteen minutes of fame nearly up, the brash and egotistical trainer will not disappoint and should put on a wonderful show in Washington.

We will all know that he was well-prepared if he either waves his finger during testimony or claims that he “misremembered” when he said that he gave Big Brown steroids.

If 3 Year-Old Runs, Dutrow & Iavarone May Enhance Chances

Big Brown may become just another footnote in the long list of almost-Triple Crown winners. The three year-old colt could have rode off into the sunset draped in carnations if he could have pulled off winning the Belmont Stakes this past Saturday. But it was not meant to be and now many questions have been raised about the future of the horse.

If he is not retired, the next race for him could be the Travers in August. The next question would be if trainer Rick Dutrow, Jr. would administer Winstrol in preparation of the race, one that could mean a lot of money – not only in potential winnings, but more importantly his stallion career. It would behoove the Big Brown camp to ensure a win to erase the disappointing performance at the sweltering Long Island race track.

Dutrow admitted that prior to the impressive Kentucky Derby win, he gave Big Brown a shot of Winstrol. The trainer then flip-flopped on the subject after the next race. At first, he said that he did in fact give the steroid to the horse for the Preakness, another race where Big Brown dominated. Later on, he recanted and said that he didn’t give the horse Winny. He has been consistent in stating that he did not give Winstrol to Big Brown before Belmont, and it was obvious after the horse was eased out of the nine-horse race, dropping all the way back after holding onto third place at the beginning.

Dutrow, during an interview with New York Newsday, became agitated and refused to answer any further questions about steroids after reiterating that he didn’t use the drug in the last race and that he doesn’t use Winstrol “to help horses run faster.” Dutrow, who has been raked over the coals for his brash and outspoken way, made himself look worse than Roger Clemens with such a ridiculous statement. Steroids in sports are used for one reason and one reason only – to enhance the performance of the athlete, let it be a pitcher or a racehorse.

Bottom line is if Big Brown has a better chance to win at Saratoga by getting a shot of Winny, expect his owner and trainer to not give in to the public pressure concerning steroid use on horses. There are millions of dollars at stake, along with the reputation of a horse that could either be forgotten or remembered as a champion that had one bad day.
