Jose Raymond earned an automatic bid to the Olympia 212 showdown with a clearcut victory at the IFBB Optimum Classic in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was easily the best in a small line-up that included only five other competitors. Marco Rivera held his own, but had too much to overcome and had to settle for the runner-up spot. Lyndon Belgrave of Barbados took third.
In the figure competition, Monica Speckling was the winner with Jami DeBernard and Ann Titone rounding out the top three.
