Shawn Rhoden Wins 2nd Consecutive at 2012 IFBB Europa SuperShow Dallas

The names on everyone’s minds as potential winners at next month’s Mr. Olympia contest are fairly predictable. Phil Heath is the favorite to retain the title and Jay Cutler, Kai Greene and Branch Warren will also be in the mix. But perhaps there should be another name added to that short list, a name that did not even crack the top-10 a year ago in Las Vegas.

But the way Shawn Rhoden has looked in 2012 warrants the discussion. “Flexatron” made it two straight by winning for the second time in the span of a week, taking home the big check at the Europa SuperShow in Dallas after besting the line-up at the PBW Tampa Pro.

Rhoden is going to have to maintain his awesome conditioning and ensure that his appealing x-frame physique is at its sharpest once he is standing on the stage at the Orleans Arena against the aforementioned behemoths.

Hidetada Yamagishi was the runner-up and swapped positions with Toney Freeman, who took second to the Japanese native’s third place in Florida. Roelly Winklaar has to be disappointed with his fourth place finish and has had a down year. Ed Nunn took fifth.

In the 212, David Henry was the winner and will go at it again with his longtime nemesis Kevin English at the Olympia. Tricky Jackson and William Bonac followed. The women were well represented with a figure competition that was won by Alea Suarez, with Larissa Reiss second and Tatiana Koshman third.
