Staying on the Wagon – How to Make Sure That You Stick with Your Fitness Plan

By A.J. Agrawal – Every great lover of fitness will reach a point in their workout regimes where they start to question why they are doing this and why they should bother. Some people then fall off of that fitness wagon. Like any digital marketing strategy, sticking to your fitness plan requires discipline. You are going to learn about how you should go about sticking with your fitness plan.

Why Do You Want to Quit?

First of all, you have to think about why you want to quit in the first place. There doesn’t always have to be a specific reason. Sometimes you may just feel like it, and that’s fine. If there’s an actual cause of the problem, this needs to be addressed so you can get back on track.

For example, you may be simply tired of the same routine you’ve been following for the last year. Your gym may have become a toxic place to work out at. Once you pinpoint the exact problem, you can come up with some positive changes.

Freshen Things Up

No matter how much of a gym rat you happen to be, sooner or later you will need to change things up. When workouts get stale, you know you need to act. This happens to the best of them and it’s a sign that you need to come up with a new fitness plan that gives you something interesting to do.

Most exercise types have direct substitutions, so you can swap out one for another. A simple change like this can make all the difference to how you feel about your workout.

A Lack of Progress

Perhaps the biggest reason why people quit is because they feel as if they haven’t made any progress since getting started. If you feel this way, it may be because your expectations are so high or because you genuinely haven’t made any progress. Regardless of the reason, you have to make some changes.

It may be time to call in the help of someone more experienced than you to give you a hand with making some major gains. For some people, they need to completely change their workout plans in order to make that breakthrough.

This is more of a problem for veterans because they have already had their noob gains.

Are You Depriving Yourself?

To be the best at what you do you have to make sacrifices. It means that you can’t go out partying every night and you can’t live on a diet of pizza and hamburgers. Many newcomers to the gym decide to go all in and eliminate these guilty pleasures entirely. It may be good for progress, but in the long-term this is a bad thing.
Few people are so obsessed with fitness that they can remove any treats and stick to fruit and vegetables for the rest of their lives. Depriving yourself in this way isn’t healthy, can destroy your relationships, and it will lead to negative results in the long-term.

The reason for this is that so many people become sad and/or depressed because while their friends are having fun they have to sit by and watch. This isn’t what life is all about. Indulging in alcohol every so often isn’t going to kill your gains. This is why the concept of the cheat day is such a popular one it. The studies say cheating can make you healthier.

Call in a Friend

When all else fails, there’s nothing like calling in a friend to give you a helping hand. The power of friendships can’t be underestimated, as 67% of people are motivated by praise. You might want to consider having someone to go with you to the gym as an accountability buddy makes it less likely that you’re going to stay in bed on those cold winter mornings.

You friend doesn’t have to be someone who’s as experienced as you. Just having someone you can take responsibility for, with them returning the favor, can completely change the game.
Sometimes even the most ardent fitness freak needs that extra push. Additionally, working out with a friend can help the workout be more fun and passes time quicker.

Conclusion

Falling off the fitness wagon is always a big issue. If you have the discipline to look at your problem objectively, you are going to be able to come up with a solution that works for you.
