Alliance of American Football Team Cities & Names
- Updated: October 4, 2018

It will be here before you know. Professional football, that is. You may be asking yourselves, “Are these guys nuts? The NFL is almost a month into their season. For this of you not in the know, we have boycotted the NFL since Week 3 of the 2017 due to the players’ kneeling protest, their anti-police mantra and all around criminal behavior.

So it is a breath of fresh air to actually see the formation of leagues such as the Alliance of American Football and the XFL, which will begin play in 2019 and 2020, respectively.
The AAF announced eight cities that will field teams in the league’s inaugural campaign and their nicknames and logos were released recently: Atlanta Legends, Birmingham Irons, Orlando Apollos, Memphis Express, Arizona Hotshots, Salt Lake Stallions, San Antonio Commanders, San Diego Fleet.
Training camps will open in November and the regular season will kick off on February 9, 2019 – one week after the Super Bowl. The AAF championship game will be held the final weekend in April. The rosters will be made up of undrafted college players, those who drafted/signed and were cut by the NFL and others who may have been veterans of the NFL but no longer playing.
