Fan Controlled Football League

The Fan Controlled Football League (FCFL), the first professional sports league where fans call all the shots, today announced the five cities that will host combine events for prospective players looking to enter the 2019 FCFL Draft.

Players with collegiate or professional football experience who think they’ve got what it takes to play for the fans and are interested in being a part of the league’s inaugural season can register for the combine in their region and submit video at http://bit.ly/FCFLPlayerApplication.

“This is a great opportunity for young players to show us what they’ve got,” commented Ray Austin, former NFL defensive back and FCFL Co-Founder & Head of Football Experience. “Our league combines esports, gaming, traditional sports and entertainment, and it gives players a unique platform to showcase their skills and build their personal brands.” Austin added.

The FCFL Football Operations Team and registered FCFL fans will evaluate players as they participate in position-specific skills tests and one-on-one competitions. Fans are welcome to attend the combines and conduct their own evaluations, but are required to pre-register for the FCFL’s Virtual Front Office in order to receive Fan Scout credentials for their preferred combine location. Virtual Front Office fans will also be able to evaluate players on the league’s video platform.

The league recently announced NFL Pro Bowlers, Richard Sherman and Marshawn Lynch as Team Owners and Fan Captains. As Fan Captains of their respective teams, both Sherman and Lynch will work with their team’s fans to build the persona of their team, along with assisting fans in hiring (or firing) coaches, drafting players and calling plays in real time. They will compete for the league’s $1 million dollar Championship Prize Purse, which is shared by players, coaches, captains and fans of the winning team. And in September, the FCFL announced that legendary four-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback Joe Montana had joined the league as Chief Strategic Advisor and as an investor.

Chief Strategic Advisor, FCFL, Joe Montana, stated, “When the FCFL kicks off this June, we’re going to change what it means to be a fan.” He added, “From the start, at the combine, fans will be able to actually influence who plays on their team. I know there is a lot of talent out there, and I can’t wait to get a look at the guys who think they have what it takes to help us make history!”

The FCFL’s fast-paced, one-hour running clock, 7-on-7 games, will be played in a high-tech production studio equipped with drones, sensors and wearables with technologies with seating for a thousand fans, while livestreaming online to a global audience exclusively on Twitch, the leading service and community for multiplayer entertainment. Using Twitch Extensions, the FCFL has developed an interactive overlay for desktop and mobile, which will allow fans to call plays natively on top of the Twitch video player. The FCFL is the first professional sports league built for the Twitch community.

IMG Original Content is the broadcast and production partner for the FCFL and will be producing all of the games for Twitch, as well as the league’s shoulder content. In addition, IMG will host the first combine at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

IMG Original Content Vice President, Ken Rosen, stated, “We’ve been working with FCFL for nearly a year now and we’re excited about the league’s continued momentum. This is going to be an experience like no other.”

Next up, the FCFL will announce the additional Team Owners / Fan Captains for the remainder of the eight teams as well as a number of strategic alliances.
