YANKEES ACQUIRE OF TIM LOCASTRO FROM ARIZONA

The New York Yankees announced today that they have acquired OF Tim Locastro from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for RHP Keegan Curtis.

Locastro, 28, has batted .234 (96-for-411) with 70R, 19 doubles, 3 triples, 4HR, 29RBI, 30BB and 31SB in 200 games over parts of five Major League seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers (2017-18) and Arizona Diamondbacks (2019-21). The right-handed hitter has appeared in games at all three outfield positions, playing 64 games in center field, 50 games in left field and 40 games in right field. In 55 games with the Diamondbacks this season, he has hit .178 (21-for-118) with 11R, 2 doubles, 1HR, 5RBI, 6BB, 9HP and 5SB.

The Auburn, N.Y., native hit his first career home run at Yankee Stadium on July 31, 2019 with the Diamondbacks.

He was originally selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 13th round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft out of Ithaca College. Locastro was acquired by the Los Angeles Dodgers with RHP Chase De Jong from Toronto in exchange for international signing money on July 2, 2015. He was previously acquired by the Yankees from Los Angeles-NL in exchange for RHP Drew Finley and cash considerations on November 21, 2018. On January 14, 2019, he was designated for assignment by the Yankees and traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks on January 16, 2019 in exchange for LHP Ronald Roman and cash considerations.

Curtis, 25, was selected by the Yankees in the 22^nd round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Louisiana at Monroe. In parts of three minor league seasons (2018-19, ‘21), the Mobile, Ala., native is 4-3 with seven saves and a 3.29 ERA (65.2IP, 24ER) in 42 relief appearances. In 12 games this season with Double-A Somerset, has gone 1-1 with two saves, a 3.94 ERA (16.0IP, 7ER) and 27K.
