The New York Yankees will open the 2022 regular season at Yankee Stadium on Thursday, April 7, with a 1:05 p.m. game against the Boston Red Sox. All Yankee Stadium gates will open to Guests with valid tickets beginning at 11:00 a.m.

All Guests in attendance on Opening Day will receive an Opening Day Commemorative Ticket.

Pregame ceremonies are set to begin at approximately 12:30 p.m., with the introduction of both teams on the baselines.

Guests are strongly encouraged to arrive as early as possible to avoid lines that will increase in length as game time approaches.

A giant American flag will be unfurled on the field by Yankees season-ticket holders prior to the national anthem, which will be sung by singer and actress Shoshana Bean, who currently stars in the new Broadway show Mr. Saturday Night. The presentation of colors will be performed by the U.S. Army West Point Military Police Honor Guard.

Tony and Emmy Award-winning comedian, actor and director Billy Crystal, the star of Mr. Saturday Night, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Yankee Stadium will also have guest DJay Jung performing prior to the game and during inning breaks. During the seventh-inning stretch, Grammy Award-nominated Broadway performer Quentin Earl Darrington from MJ the Musical will sing “God Bless America.”

The Yankees will face Boston in their Opening Day game for the first time since 2013 (also at Yankee Stadium) and for just the fourth time in the last 30 seasons (1993-2022). However, it marks the 32nd time that the Yankees’ season-opening game has been against the Red Sox, with the Yankees going 18-12-1 overall and 12-7-1 at home. In franchise history, the Yankees are 66-52-1 on Opening Day and 36-18-1 when the season opener is a home game. The Yankees enter Thursday’s contest with a 79-39-1 all-time record in home openers.

The Yankees’ homestand continues Saturday, April 9, at 4:05 p.m., and Sunday, April 10, at 7:08 p.m., with games against Boston, followed by a four-game series from Monday, April 11, through Thursday, April 14, against fellow AL East rival Toronto (all four games are 7:05 p.m. starts). The final game of the homestand (Thursday, April 14) will see the first 18,000 fans in attendance receive an Elston Howard Bobblehead presented by Bank of America. Gates for the final six games of the homestand will open 90 minutes before the scheduled first pitch.
