YANKEES ACQUIRE OF HARRISON BADER FOR JORDAN MONTGOMERY

The New York Yankees today announced that they have acquired OF Harrison Bader and a player to be named later or cash considerations from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for LHP Jordan Montgomery.

Bader, 28, has hit .256/.303/.370 (63-for-246) with 35R, 7 doubles, 3 triples, 5HR, 21RBI and 13BB in 72 games with the St. Louis Cardinals. The 2021 Gold Glove Award winner has appeared in 71 games in center field this year and has not made an error in 177 total chances.

Over parts of six Major League seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals (2017-22), the right-handed batter has hit .246 (376-for-1,530) with 226R, 72 doubles, 11 triples, 52HR, 168RBI, 135BB and 55SB in 523 career games.

The Bronxville, N.Y., native was originally selected by the Cardinals in the third round of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Florida.

Montgomery, 29, went 3-3 with a 3.69 ERA (114.2IP, 103H, 48R/47ER, 23BB, 97K, 15HR) in 21 starts with the Yankees this season. Over six Major League seasons with the Yankees (2017-22), has gone 22-20 with a 3.94 ERA (502.2IP, 473H, 234R/220ER, 146BB, 478K, 66HR) in 98 games (97 starts). The Sumter, S.C., native was originally drafted by the Yankees in the fourth round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of South Carolina.
