2022 CORTACA JUG GAME AT YANKEE STADIUM BETWEEN ITHACA COLLEGE AND SUNY CORTLAND TO KICK OFF AT 12:00 P.M. ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 12

Today it was announced that the 2022 Cortaca Jug college football matchup between Ithaca College and SUNY Cortland at Yankee Stadium will kick off at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 12. The game had previously been scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.

Additionally, it was announced that the YES Network will broadcast the game.

A limited number of tickets remain available for purchase to the general public atticketmaster.com or cortacajug.com.

Subject to availability, fans can choose to sit on the Ithaca College Bombers side of the stadium (first base / right field) or on the SUNY Cortland Red Dragons side (third base / left field). All tickets will be delivered digitally, and mobile presentation will be the sole method of entry.

Both schools are currently 4-0 this season with the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) ranking Cortland No. 10 and Ithaca No. 12, and D3Football.com ranking Ithaca No. 12 and Cortland No. 13.

The 63rd edition of the game will mark the first appearance for either team at either the current or original Yankee Stadium and the first time the home of the Yankees will host an all-New York State college football game since Syracuse defeated Army, 27-15, on November 7, 1964. Ithaca will be the home team for the contest.

The trophy was first introduced to the rivalry in 1959, when Cortland football captain Tom Decker stopped at a yard sale and purchased a $2 jug from a local farmer, thinking the item could be used as a trophy for the annual game between the two teams. After meeting up with friend and Ithaca football captain Dick Carmean, the two painted the jug blue, gold, red and white in honor of both schools’ colors.

Once referred to by Sports Illustrated as “the biggest little game in the nation,” the Cortaca Jug was played in 2019 before a Division III-record crowd of 45,161 fans at MetLife Stadium, with Ithaca prevailing, 32-20. In the most recent contest, SUNY Cortland defeated Ithaca, 28-27, at Cortland. Ithaca currently leads the Cortaca Jug series, 37–25.
