The Yankees have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with INF Isiah Kiner-Falefa, thus avoiding arbitration.
The Yankees have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with RHP Lou Trivino, thus avoiding arbitration.
The Yankees claimed RHP Junior Fernández off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates. Fernández, 25, posted a 2.41 ERA (18.2IP, 18H, 6R/5ER, 12BB, 14K, 3HR) in 16 combined relief appearances with the St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates in 2022. Additionally, he went a combined 2-3 with a 4.87 ERA (44.1IP, 49H, 26R/24ER, 23BB, 4HR, 51K) in 41 appearances with Triple-A Memphis and Triple-A Indianapolis. Over parts of four Major League seasons (2019-22) with the Cardinals (2019-22) and Pirates (2022), he has gone 1-1 with a 5.17 ERA (54.0IP, 58H, 32R/31ER, 35BB, 47K, 8HR) in 50 career relief outings. A native of Santo Domingo Centro, D.R., he was originally signed by the Cardinals as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 2014.
