Today in the Major League phase of the 2022 Rule 5 Draft, the St. Louis Cardinals selectedRHP Wilking Rodriguez and the New York Mets selected RHP Zach Greene from the Yankees.
In the Triple-A phase of today’s Rule 5 Draft, the Yankees selected LHP Pablo Mujica in the first round from the Kansas City Royals. Mujica, 21, has gone 6-3 with a 3.41 ERA (68.2IP, 53H, 30R/26ER, 32BB, 88K, 2HR) in 24 career appearances (10 starts) over two minor league seasons (2019, ’22). The left-handed pitcher went 5-2 with a 3.13 ERA (31.2IP, 21H, 13R/11ER, 16BB, 44K, 2HR) in 11 games (one start) with the ACL Royals. The Barquisimeto, Venezuela, native was originally signed by the Kansas City Royals as a non-drafted free agent on July 10, 2018.
Additionally, Baltimore selected RHP Alfred Vega (first round), Los Angeles-NL selected RHP Yon Castro (first round), Arizona selected RHP Denny Larrondo (second round), Boston selected RHP Ryan Miller (second round), Tampa Bay selected RHP Nelson Alvarez (third round) and Philadelphia selected INF Oliver Dunn (seventh round) from the Yankees in the Triple-A phase.
