Yankees Sign Veteran OF Kole Calhoun To Minor League Contract

The New York Yankees today announced they have signed OF Kole Calhoun to a minor league contract.
Calhoun, 35, has batted .243 (1,042-for-4,291) with 618R, 198 doubles, 18 triples, 173HR, 557RBI, 437BB and 34SB in 1,196 career games over parts of 11 Major League seasons with the Los Angeles Angels (2012-19), Arizona Diamondbacks (2020-21) and Texas Rangers (2022). The 2015 AL Gold Glove Award winner has appeared defensively at all three outfield positions in his career (RF – 1,104G, LF – 33G, CF – 7G) and at first base (9G). Calhoun signed a minor league contract with the Seattle Mariners with an invitation to spring training on February 24, 2023. He was then released on March 26, 2023 after exercising his opt-out. In 2022 with Texas, the left-handed batter hit .196 (76-for-388) with 36R, 14 doubles, 1 triple, 12HR, 49RBI, 27BB and 3SB in 125 games.
The Tempe, Ariz., native was originally drafted by Los Angeles-AL in the eighth round of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft out of Arizona State University. He then signed with Arizona as a free agent on December 30, 2019 and with Texas on November 30, 2021.
Calhoun has been assigned to the FCL Yankees.
