The Yankees added RHP Clayton Beeter and C Agustin Ramírez to the 40-man roster.
Beeter, 25, split the 2023 season with Double-A Somerset (12GS) and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (15G/14GS), combining to go 9-7 with a 3.62 ERA (131.2IP, 105H, 54R/53ER, 75BB, 165K, 18HR) in 27 games (26 starts). Among Yankees farmhands, he ranked second in strikeouts, third in starts and fourth in wins, innings pitched and opponents’ batting average. His 165K also ranked eighth among all minor league pitchers in 2023. The right-handed pitcher was a 2023 Futures Game selection and was named an Eastern League Postseason All-Star. Over three minor league seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers (2021-22) and Yankees (2022-23), he has gone 9-16 with a 3.86 ERA (261.0IP, 207H, 121R/112ER, 143BB, 372K, 34HR) in 80 games (76 starts). The Fort Worth, Tex., native was originally selected by Los Angeles-NL in Competitive Balance Round B of the 2020 First-Year Player Draft. He was acquired by the Yankees from the Dodgers in exchange for OF Joey Gallo on August 2, 2022.
Ramírez, 22, batted .271/.364/.455 (115-for-424) with 73R, 24 doubles, 18HR, 69RBI, 61BB and 12SB in 114 combined games with Single-A Tampa (56G), High-A Hudson Valley (27G) and Double-A Somerset (31G) in 2023. The catcher was named the South Atlantic League “Player of the Month” for July with Hudson Valley after batting .415/.467/.756 (34-for-82) with 17R, 10 doubles, 6HR, 16RBI, 7BB, 1HP and 2SB in 20 games. Among Yankees minor leaguers this past season, he was tied for fourth in doubles, ranked fifth in runs scored and seventh in RBI, extra-base hits (42) and total bases (193). Over four minor league seasons in the Yankees organization (2019, ’21-23), Ramírez has hit .266/.352/.450 (225-for-846) with 147R, 58 doubles, 1 triple, 32HR, 161RBI, 111BB and 26SB in 231 career games. The Santo Domingo, D.R., native was signed by the Yankees as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 2018.
