Bodybuilder Spotlight: JOSH BROWN by Pauly Des

Bodybuilder Spotlight: JOSH BROWN

Height – 5”3

Bodyweight – contest 197 pounds

Off season – 228 pounds

Josh Brown is 29 years old and is from the south shore of Massachusetts. He trains at Bayshore Gym and is a personal trainer.

He has been competing in the NPC and most recently, he won the NEW ENGLAND’S OVERALL in October and will be competing at the NPC Nationals in Irving, Texas in December.

I sat down with Brown this weekend and chatted about his future in the sport. I have known him mainly via Facebook for the past five years. I had seen his progression over the years, from 160 pounds to his current 197 bodyweight. Brown loves to train back, and his improvement shows. But what he’s most known for is squatting over 600 pounds raw for reps. As most of you know, I am a powerlifitng national judge and previous world champion. So when you see a ripped bodybuilder squatting over 600 pounds ass to grass, you kind of notice. This kid is strong!

On top of that, he’s down to earth. Not a show off or know it all, Josh is a humble but confident young man who is definitely more of a family man than the typical show off bodybuilders we see online. I have also seen some of the people he has trained and seen their progress. Being a trainer and a coach is hard to do. I know I’ve been doing it for 20-plus years. I rarely ever see anyone getting similar results to my clients. I can honestly say I have seen him have a lot of success.  The funny thing is his trainer is the Boston Mass, aka Jose Raymond. I used to go to Nautilas Plus where I had trained with Raymond and his best friend at the time Mr. Universe Greg Rando. So I know the lineage of his training style. Hence why it works, and why I knew exactly how he trained. It was nice to see and he reminded of the training I had done when I was 17-18 years old.

Brown wanted to give a shout out to someone else who had helped him along the way, Mike Ciulla.

I also know Ciulla, so I knew of the good quality people he had surrounded himself with. The world reminds us of how small it is.

Brown has goals to become a IFBB pro and compete in the 212 division. We will be rooting for him to place well at this years nationals and make a big splash.

If you’re a up and coming bodybuilder or figure competitor, please hit me up! Maybe you’ll be our next interview.
