The Yankees claimed LHP Brent Headrick off waivers from the Minnesota Twins.
Headrick, 27, made one relief appearance with the Twins in 2024 (3.0IP, 2H, 1R/ER, 2BB, 5K, 1HR). The left-handed pitcher also made seven combined appearances (five starts) with Triple-A St. Paul and Single-A Fort Myers last season, going 1-0 with a 1.86 ERA (19.1IP, 16H, 7R/4ER, 7BB, 23K, 3HR).
Over parts of two Major League seasons with Minnesota (2023-24), Headrick has gone 3-0 with one save and a 5.97 ERA (28.2IP, 29H, 19R/ER, 12BB, 35K, 8HR) in 15 relief appearances. Over parts of five minor league seasons in the Twins organization (2019, ’21-24), he has gone 18-12 with a 3.64 ERA (269.1IP, 247H, 125R/109ER, 98BB, 332K, 37HR) in 70 games (57 starts).
The Joliet, Ill., native was originally selected by Minnesota in the ninth round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft out of Illinois State University.
To make room on the 40-man roster, the Yankees designated RHP Owen White for assignment.
