American Soccer Club New York Re-Signs Midfielder Dylan Lopez for 2026 NPSL Season

American Soccer Club New York has announced the re-signing of midfielder Dylan Lopez to a one-year contract for the 2026 National Premier Soccer League season.

The 17-year-old Long Island native returns to the Fighting Tomcats after joining the club in 2025 as a 16-year-old prospect.

Dylan Lopez Looks to Build on Promising Start

“I’m extremely excited to re-sign with American Soccer Club New York,” said Lopez. “I’m grateful for the environment to grow as both a player and a person. My expectations are always high—I want to win every game and be a key factor in the team’s success this season.”

Lopez began his soccer journey alongside his twin brother at St. Joseph’s CYO before continuing his development with Lake Grove-Newfield Soccer Club, now known as Atlantic United FC. A native of Ronkonkoma, New York, he also played at Connetquot High School and is set to graduate this June.

Coaching Staff Praises Lopez’s Growth and Potential

Head coach John Fitzgerald highlighted Lopez’s rapid development since joining the club midseason in 2025.

“He immediately impressed the coaching staff during training,” Fitzgerald said. “For a 16-year-old to earn playing opportunities at that level was a major accomplishment. Now, he’s more experienced and showing the maturity needed to continue progressing. We’re excited to have him back.”

Club Leadership Emphasizes Development Pathway

Managing Partner and General Manager Jim Kilmeade praised Lopez’s work ethic and the club’s commitment to developing local talent.

“Dylan’s progression reflects the culture we’re building here,” Kilmeade said. “We focus on identifying and developing top young players from Long Island and giving them meaningful opportunities to succeed.”

He also emphasized the importance of local partnerships in player development, noting the role of programs like Atlantic United FC in preparing athletes for the next level.

Looking Ahead to the 2026 Season

Lopez saw limited action during the 2025 season but gained valuable experience within the club’s competitive environment.

“I’m grateful for the culture here,” Lopez said. “Everyone shares the same goal of winning, and it’s a great feeling to be part of a team that supports each other.”

American Soccer Club New York will continue to announce additional player signings and partnerships in the coming weeks.

The Fighting Tomcats will open their 2026 NPSL season on May 2 against the New York Shockers at Mitchel Athletic Complex, the club’s primary home venue.
