Yankee Stadium to Host Liverpool FC vs. Wrexham AFC Preseason Soccer Match
Yankee Stadium will host a highly anticipated preseason soccer match between Liverpool FC and Wrexham AFC on Wednesday, July 29, the venue announced in partnership with TEG Sport. The official kickoff time will be announced at a later date.
Tickets for the match will go on sale to the general public on Thursday, March 12 at 11:00 a.m. ET via Ticketmaster. Fans can also register for presale access, while Yankees season ticket licensees will automatically receive early access.
Liverpool FC Brings Championship Pedigree to the Bronx
Founded in 1892, Liverpool FC is one of the most successful and globally recognized clubs in soccer history. The reigning Premier League champions have captured 20 league titles, along with multiple domestic and international trophies, including six European Cups.
This will mark Liverpool’s third appearance at Yankee Stadium. The club previously played to a 2-2 draw against Sporting CP in 2019 and defeated Manchester City in a penalty shootout in 2014 following a 2-2 match. Liverpool also appeared at the original Yankee Stadium in 1953.
Wrexham AFC’s Rise Continues on Global Stage
Founded in 1864, Wrexham AFC is the third-oldest professional soccer club in the world and one of the sport’s fastest-rising teams. The club made history by earning three consecutive promotions, climbing from the National League to the English Championship.
Since being acquired in 2021 by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, Wrexham has gained worldwide recognition, fueled in part by the hit documentary Welcome to Wrexham.

Yankee Stadium has a long history of hosting international soccer matches, continuing a tradition that dates back to the original stadium. The current venue has hosted numerous European friendlies and serves as the home of New York City FC since 2015.
Recent high-profile matches at the stadium include AC Milan vs. Manchester City (2024), Liverpool vs. Sporting CP (2019), and Real Madrid vs. AC Milan (2012), among others.
