Yankees Announce Roster for 78th Old-Timers’ Day at Yankee Stadium
The New York Yankees have unveiled the roster for the 78th Old-Timers’ Day, presented by FreshDirect, which will take place Saturday, Aug. 8, at Yankee Stadium.
One of baseball’s most cherished traditions returns with the classic player introductions followed by the annual Old-Timers’ Day baseball game, bringing together Yankees legends from multiple championship eras.
Mariano Rivera, Joe Torre Headline Legendary Roster
Leading this year’s class are Hall of Famers Mariano Rivera and Joe Torre, joined by an impressive collection of Monument Park honorees and Yankees greats.
Fans will also see franchise icons including:
- Andy Pettitte
- Bernie Williams
- Jorge Posada
- Paul O’Neill
- Ron Guidry
- Willie Randolph
- Tino Martinez
Current Yankees manager Aaron Boone will once again participate, along with fan favorites Hideki Matsui, Orlando “El Duque” Hernández, David Cone, Bucky Dent, Johnny Damon, Alfonso Soriano, Nick Swisher and Dwight Gooden.
Three First-Time Old-Timers
Several former Yankees will make their Old-Timers’ Day debut this year.
Former pitchers Dellin Betances and Adam Ottavino, along with former infielder Todd Frazier—now all members of the YES Network broadcast team—will participate for the first time.
Former pitcher David Weathers will also make his Old-Timers’ Day debut.
Honoring Yankees History
The Yankees will once again celebrate the franchise’s rich history by recognizing the families of several legendary figures.
Scheduled to attend are:
- Diana Munson, widow of Thurman Munson
- Kay Murcer, widow of Bobby Murcer
- Jill Martin, widow of Billy Martin
Their presence continues one of the event’s longstanding traditions of honoring the people who helped shape Yankees history.
Event Schedule
Gates at Yankee Stadium will open at 12:00 p.m., with fans encouraged to be in their seats by 12:45 p.m. for the traditional player introductions.
Veteran broadcaster Michael Kay will once again introduce each alumnus before the annual Old-Timers’ Day baseball game.
Following the festivities, the Yankees will host the Atlanta Braves at 3:05 p.m.
A Yankees Tradition Continues
Old-Timers’ Day remains one of the most anticipated events on the Yankees’ calendar, giving fans the opportunity to celebrate generations of franchise legends in one place.
With Hall of Famers, World Series champions, Monument Park inductees and beloved fan favorites all returning to Yankee Stadium, the 78th edition promises another memorable celebration of one of baseball’s richest traditions.
The ceremonies will air exclusively on the YES Network before its live coverage of the Yankees-Braves game.
