NFL Announces 2027 NFL Draft Dates for Washington, D.C.
The National Football League has officially announced that the 2027 NFL Draft presented by Bud Light will take place from Thursday, April 29, through Saturday, May 1, 2027, in Washington, D.C.
Hosted in partnership with the Washington Commanders and Events DC, the three-day event will be free to the public and is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of football fans from around the world to the nation’s capital.
National Mall to Serve as Centerpiece
One of the NFL’s marquee offseason events will unfold across several of Washington’s most recognizable landmarks.
The Draft Theater will be anchored on the National Mall directly in front of the U.S. Capitol, while the expansive NFL Draft Experience fan festival will stretch along Pennsylvania Avenue NW between 3rd and 7th Streets.
Additional attractions and event spaces will surround the National Mall, creating one of the largest footprints in NFL Draft history.
NFL Excited for Historic Setting
NFL Executive Vice President of Club Business, International and Global Events Peter O’Reilly believes Washington will provide an unforgettable backdrop for the league’s annual selection meeting.
“The NFL Draft continues to grow as one of our biggest and most accessible events, and we are excited to welcome fans and prospects to Washington, D.C., in 2027,” O’Reilly said.
“Our nation’s capital will provide an incredible, iconically American stage to host fans from around the world as we celebrate the next generation of NFL stars.”

In addition to the Draft itself, the NFL will once again host a wide variety of free activities throughout the weekend.

The Draft Experience has become one of the NFL’s signature fan events, offering immersive attractions for football fans of all ages.
Washington Leaders Welcome the NFL
Events DC President and CEO Angie M. Gates called the Draft an opportunity to showcase the city on a global stage.
“Washington, D.C., is excited to host the 2027 NFL Draft, inviting football fans from across the nation and around the world to experience an unforgettable celebration,” Gates said.
Washington Commanders President Mark Clouse described the announcement as a milestone for both the franchise and the region.
“This is a historic moment for our organization, our fans, and the entire region,” Clouse said. “Football is woven into the fabric of this city, and we look forward to creating a memorable experience for all fans while celebrating the next generation of NFL players.”
D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser also encouraged football fans to begin planning their trips now, pointing to the city’s hotels, restaurants, and springtime attractions as ideal complements to one of the NFL’s biggest annual events.
Building on Record-Breaking Momentum
The announcement follows another historic NFL Draft.
The 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh set a new all-time attendance record, attracting more than 805,000 fans over three days and further cementing the event as one of the largest annual sports gatherings in the United States.
With its iconic landmarks, historic backdrop, and football-rich fan base, Washington, D.C., is expected to continue that momentum when it hosts the 2027 NFL Draft.
