Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Hezekiah Masses and Cleveland Browns kicker Andre Szmyt have been named the AFC Players of the Week for Week 2 of the 2026 NFL season.
Allen earned AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors following another huge performance for Buffalo, while Masses took home the defensive award after a two-interception game for Las Vegas. Szmyt was recognized on special teams after helping Cleveland secure a Week 2 victory.
Josh Allen Named AFC Offensive Player of the Week
Allen completed 20 of 31 passes for 248 yards and three touchdowns in Buffalo’s 41-31 victory over the Detroit Lions. The Bills quarterback also made a major impact with his legs, rushing 14 times for 69 yards and two touchdowns.
The performance gave Allen four career games with at least three touchdown passes and two rushing touchdowns, the most in NFL history.
It marks Allen’s 19th career Offensive Player of the Week award, placing him fourth all-time behind Tom Brady (32), Peyton Manning (27) and Drew Brees (25).
Allen has now earned the honor in nine different NFL seasons, including three times in 2025 before adding his first award of the 2026 campaign.
Hezekiah Masses Earns AFC Defensive Honors
Raiders rookie cornerback Hezekiah Masses delivered a breakout performance in Las Vegas’ 26-14 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers.
Masses, a fifth-round selection with the No. 175 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, recorded five tackles, two interceptions and one tackle for loss.
He became one of only three players since 2000 to record at least five tackles and two interceptions in one of his first two NFL games, joining Kyle Fuller and Denzel Ward.
The performance earned Masses his first career Defensive Player of the Week award. He is also the first Raiders cornerback to receive the honor since Phillip Buchanon in Week 11 of the 2003 season.
Andre Szmyt Named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week
Cleveland kicker Andre Szmyt accounted for 11 points in the Browns’ 23-19 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Szmyt converted all three of his field-goal attempts, connecting from 34, 34 and 50 yards, while also making both of his extra-point attempts.
It is Szmyt’s second career Special Teams Player of the Week award after previously earning the honor in Week 3 of the 2025 season.
He joins Phil Dawson and Dustin Hopkins as the only kickers in Browns history to win the award multiple times.
With Allen continuing to rewrite the NFL record book, Masses making an immediate impact as a rookie and Szmyt delivering for Cleveland in the kicking game, the AFC’s Week 2 award winners represented three very different paths to standout performances.
