Week 3 of the 2026 NFL season could produce several historic performances, with Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Matthew Stafford, Derrick Henry and Ja’Marr Chase among the stars approaching major career milestones.
Here’s what to look for around the NFL in Week 3.
Josh Allen Can Make NFL History
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has opened the season with five touchdown passes and four rushing touchdowns, becoming the first player in NFL history to reach those totals through his first two games.
Against the Los Angeles Chargers, Allen can become the first quarterback in NFL history with multiple rushing touchdowns in three consecutive games.
He can also become the first quarterback to record a touchdown pass, rushing touchdown and passer rating of at least 120 in three straight games.
Buffalo has produced at least 35 points and 400 yards of offense in each of its first two games. Doing it again would make the Bills only the fourth team in NFL history to reach both marks in each of their first three games.
Patrick Mahomes Closing in on Tom Brady Mark
Patrick Mahomes enters Kansas City’s matchup against Miami with 114 victories in 149 career starts, including the postseason.
A Chiefs victory would give Mahomes 115 wins through his first 150 starts, tying Tom Brady for the most by a quarterback over his first 150 career starts, including postseason games.
Mahomes can also move past Hall of Famers Peyton Manning and Dan Marino for the most games with at least three touchdown passes during a player’s first 10 NFL seasons.
Matthew Stafford and Davante Adams Chase Milestones
Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford threw for 327 yards and four touchdowns in Week 2.
Another 325-yard performance against Denver would make Stafford the fifth player in NFL history with at least 50 career games of 325 or more passing yards.
Stafford also needs just 111 passing yards to reach 20,000 as a member of the Rams. Having previously accumulated 45,109 passing yards with Detroit, Stafford can become the first player in NFL history with at least 20,000 passing yards for two different franchises.
Rams wide receiver Davante Adams, meanwhile, enters Week 3 with 119 career touchdown receptions. Two more would tie Hall of Famer Larry Fitzgerald at 121.
Brock Purdy Continues Historic Start
San Francisco quarterback Brock Purdy produced a remarkable Week 2 performance, completing 20 of 22 passes for 287 yards and two touchdowns while adding a rushing score.
He became the first player in NFL history to complete at least 90 percent of his passes while throwing for at least 285 yards and two touchdowns and adding a rushing touchdown in the same game.
Purdy now has 26 career games with a completion percentage of at least 70 percent. Another against Arizona would tie Russell Wilson for the third-most such performances by a quarterback during his first five seasons.
Bryce Young Can Join Elite Company
Carolina quarterback Bryce Young has thrown for at least 285 yards and three touchdowns with a passer rating above 110 in each of the Panthers’ first two games.
Against Cleveland, Young can become just the fourth player in NFL history with at least 275 passing yards, three touchdown passes and a passer rating of 100 or higher in each of his team’s first three games.
The others are Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes and Russell Wilson.
Jonathan Taylor Eyes Another Multi-Touchdown Game
Indianapolis running back Jonathan Taylor has scored two rushing touchdowns in each of the Colts’ first two games.
Another two-touchdown rushing performance against Houston would give Taylor 19 career games with multiple rushing touchdowns before turning 28, tying Clinton Portis for fourth-most in NFL history.
Derrick Henry Continues Climb Up NFL Record Book
Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry enters Week 3 with 126 career rushing touchdowns, third-most in NFL history.
Henry has scored 37 rushing touchdowns since turning 30. One more against Dallas in Rio de Janeiro would tie Hall of Famer Jerome Bettis for fifth-most rushing touchdowns by a player age 30 or older.
Two would move Henry ahead of Bettis and into the top five.
Ja’Marr Chase Approaching 7,000 Yards
Cincinnati Bengals receiver Ja’Marr Chase has accumulated 6,924 receiving yards through his first 80 career games.
Chase needs 76 yards against Pittsburgh to reach 7,000.
Reaching the milestone in his 81st game would move him ahead of Torry Holt, who reached 7,000 yards in 82 games. Only Lance Alworth, Julio Jones and Justin Jefferson reached the mark faster.
Amon-Ra St. Brown Chases Calvin Johnson Feat
Detroit receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown has caught two touchdown passes in each of the Lions’ first two games.
If he does it again against the New York Jets, St. Brown would join Hall of Famer Calvin Johnson as the only players in NFL history with multiple touchdown receptions in each of their team’s first three games of a season.
St. Brown also enters Week 3 with 566 career receptions. Six more would move him past CeeDee Lamb for second-most receptions by a player through his first six seasons.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba Looks to Join Jerry Rice
Seattle receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba has started 2026 with consecutive huge performances.
He recorded eight receptions for 122 yards and a touchdown in Week 1 before exploding for nine catches, 155 yards and three touchdowns in Week 2.
With at least 120 receiving yards and another touchdown against Washington, Smith-Njigba would become only the second player in NFL history to reach both marks in each of his team’s first three games of a season.
The other?
Jerry Rice in 1989.
With Allen, Mahomes, Stafford, Henry, Chase and several of the league’s young stars approaching historic territory, Week 3 offers no shortage of NFL records and milestones to watch.
